The definition of Spiritual Formation we use at Transformation of the Heart is rooted in the Creation concept that humans were created in the image of God. Spiritual formation describes the goal and resources for developing and restoring God’s image. We use the terms formation and transformation to identify these developmental and restorative processes. Like human development, spiritual formation identifies the process over time of forming the image of God, which involves all aspects of the person. Spiritual formation also addresses the process of transformation, which is about changing what has been malformed and restoring it to the image of God.
